Alongside his classic 48 Hrs, Walter Hill’s Streets Of Fire, is one of my fave American films of the eighties. May have to dig them out now for a double bill at some point this week.

That Marx Brothers collection looks epicly awesome. Streets on Fire looks pretty “good” as well. Mainly because the first billed is a guy I’ve never even heard of, lolz

think the last time i attempted to watch a few Marx brothers films one after the other i found it hard to keep track of whats going on….because there is A LOT going on!

That’s it, I’m going to have a “DVDs Edgar Has Mentioned in His Blogs” marathon. I’m sure it’ll be very entertaining. I’ve already seen Duck Soup, though; it was the first movie to show me that not everything in black and white is boring.

Ah the beautiful Thelma Todd! There’s a really good Tom Waits song called “Dead and Lovely” (Real Gone, 2004) that I’d bet is about her and her unfortunate end. Elegant song.

Hah! This picture encapsulates so much of my past week! The past two nights, I’ve watched Duck Soup and Animal Crackers. I’m putting together a concert with various numbers from musicals around then. I hope the DVD included something on Michael Kidd’s choreography for Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. And a friend of mine just wrote an article about “Streets of Fire” for a series he’s doing on ‘high concept trainwrecks’ of the ’80s. I so enjoyed watching this one with him and play the peanut gallery. I love Amy Madigan’s character constantly ending unveiled threats with “If you know what I mean.” Also, Willem Dafore with his architectural hair do. That man can work any look.

There is the 1960′s and the 1970′s out on DVD and they also have a 80′s. 90′s and 00′s out - the 70′s one is great - the newest one is a let down, they tried to cover to much in one dvd.

Yeah, I got them on Amazon, sadly our local store quit stocking them after the 60′s - there is also a 2 disc set “A Musical History” I have not seen that one yet.

I just got The Busby Berkeley Collection Volume 1 and 2 finally, maybe my favorite stuff, so amazing.
