This I remember as being a reasonably tough day in a flat on Highgate’s West Hill. We shot this on location rather than a set because we wanted to have a real window that Shaun climbed through.
The actual block of apartments on Parliament Hill is a particularly beautiful one and ironically the actual flat we filmed in was owned by Billie Whitelaw’s son. When we approached her for ‘Hot Fuzz’ she had only heard of us because of the ‘horror film’ that was partly shot in her son’s flat.
If you are shooting less than a page a day with action or effects, you have to make up the time with the dialogue scenes and so we had to rip through four pages today. Low budget films or TV shows might have to do nearly twice that, but I need to get a lot of coverage, so I found the day a bit of a struggle.
These are of course, high class problems to have.
