It’s the weekend of the Oscars, but here are some awards that are very close to my heart, the Empire Magazine awards. Am the proud owner of a Best British Film award in 2005 for ‘Shaun Of The Dead’ and a Best Comedy award in 2008 for ‘Hot Fuzz’.

Now I am delighted to have learned that the lovely Empire readers have put ‘Scott Pilgrim Vs The World’ up for three awards, including Best Film and Best Director. Which is really quite awesome.

Even better, I just discovered that I’ve apparently made my first Sci Fi / Fantasy film. This is a very welcome development.

We’ve sifted through the virtual sacks of entries and assembled the shortlist of finalists who will be waiting with baited breath on the night itself. It’s not over yet, though.
