Happy Valentines Day

To make your Valentines Day extra happy, check out this expertly edited montage of warm & fuzzy TV / Film moments. It kicks off with ‘Scott Pilgrim’ and ends with ‘Spaced’, so I am very flattered by that.

Along the way are great clips of Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Curb Your Enthusisam, Star Wars and some nifty crosscutting between Tim & Dawn with Jim & Dawn.

Another amazing cut is between Marty McFly and both Jennifers from the BTFF trilogy.

Good job, the man know only as Big Al (6’6) from Canada. He sent it to me earlier. Hats off to you sir!

And Happy Valentines to all.

Cool Video, I think Valentines should be February the 16th though… :)

Hey Edgarr, Scott wants to talk to you! =))

Lovely bittersweet pitch perfect montage. Brought a tear to my eye.

  7. Al D. says:

Wow, thank you for posting and commenting on this, I feel so honoured. Outta everyone I tweeted, Edgar Wright was the only one who responded and that is mindblowingly cool to me. The fade in and out from black from Scott Pilgrim and Spaced were the perfect way bookend it.

Everybody else, glad you liked it. As for not including certain clips, I could only include so much and I have DVD’s scattered around my comp like a crack den at this point and getting the clips from various movies, and a watching binge, took a hellova long time (days really) and one glitchy computer that seems to be on the verge of constantly imploding on itself can only hold so much! And I basically edited this in 4 days bouncing between work and home fueled primarily by cigarettes and coca-cola so it was a bit of a struggle to get it done by Feb. 14th.

Scott Pilgrim = best movie of 2010. Being in love with a girl with multi-coloured hair in Toronto is something I can totally identify with.

Sorry, I’m rambling, I’m just excited. Thanks a lot, once again!

    • Edgar Wright says:

You did an awesome job Al. And I know for a fact that Simon Pegg, Marc Webb and Frank Marshall all watched it too, because I sent it to them. So you reached even more people that contributed. Great work.

      • Al D. says:

That is so damn neat to hear. Marc Webb’s music videos are fantastic, and one of my favourite edits in the video is when it cuts from Emma Stone to Spider-Man, just because, hey, she’s in Spider-Man right? So I hope Webb saw that, and if he forwarded it to Emma Stone my brain would, like, melt or something.

I definitely want/am going to do some other ones, I got a dozen ideas, and one even more epic-er vid where I can use Pilgrim, Spaced, Fuzz & Shaun and a lot more, they just take a lot of time and I’m lazy. It will get done, eventually. My dream gig would be editing movie trailers, but I have no idea how to go about it. I could just wander around Toronto with an iPod wearing a sandwhich board that sez, “Will Ed-It 4 Food” but T.dot’s an hour drive away and it’s cold out.

But, hey, if y’all know anyone looking for a freelance music montage editor, I’m at aldesantis@gmail.com Ok, now this is just getting shameless, I’ll stop now.

Thanks a billion, greatest 48 hours of my life!

  8. I want to live with someone like Tim Bisley! Lovely montage – made me a bit sad to be single, but happy as it was excellently edited – does anyone know what the tune was?

  9. Bee Kneez says:

Not one single non-heterosexual pairing. Given the number of people shown, unrealistic if nothing else.

    • Edgar Wright says:

I did not edit the montage, but I can direct you to the feature length version of ‘Scott Pilgrim’ with non heterosexual pairings a plenty. Also a GLAAD Media Awards Nominee.

Nice! as well as framing it with your own very fine couples, also getting Boy & Girl, Lola & Manni, Tim & Dawn, Inara & Mal, Billy & Penny, Sam & Andy, Bob & Charlotte, Richard & his dead wife, and even Marty McFly with BOTH Jennifers (!!!) etc etc etc in there was fab.

Still, have no idea why they chose to include the chemistry-less non-romance that was Anakin & Padme. IMO most badly written love story ever.

But let’s end on a positive note: Scott & Ramona FTW!

    • Jane Lambert says:

Good point well made about Anakin and Padme! I was worried that Han and Leia had been sacrificed for the worst love story in the history of the world, but then they appeared, and all was well with the world.
